Corene has worked in the field of Paediatrics for over 30 years. She completed her Occupational Therapy Degree in South Africa and moved across to Perth in 2000. Corene has worked for many years both in the private and public sectors. Her Private Practice Step Ahead Occupational Therapy Services was started in Perth in 2006.

She has extensive experience working in the Disability Sector with children with Cerebral Palsy, Acquired Brain Injury, Neurological Disorders and Developmental Delay including working with young babies. Corene has provided services to many children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Sensory Processing Disorders, including challenging sensory based behaviors.

Corene currently works both in her own Private Practice and as a Senior Occupational Therapist in a Government Organization in the area of Mental Health providing services as part of highly experienced multidisciplinary team, to children with complex mental health presentations and significant learning difficulties and challenging behaviors.

Corene is a qualified Bobath (Neurodevelopmental) Therapist (Basic Training, Advanced OT Practicum and Baby Bobath training), and has been certified as a Sensory Integration trained Therapist (SCSIT South Africa.)

Briefly, Corene has attended a PRPP system of task analysis workshop, Goal Directed Training Workshop and is a Certified user of the Assisted Hand Assessment (AHA), attended TLP (Therapeutic Listening Program) workshops, Basic DIR Floor Time and an SOS Picky Eating Workshop in Brisbane.

Corene has additionally attended numerous workshops in the area of Mental Health (on Trauma and Attachment and Introductory Courses on Narrative Therapy). She has been involved in student supervision and training, and presenting Parent/Teacher workshops including running a Sensory Processing Workshop in a Country Rural area for parents, teachers and professional staff members.
